Easysteel recognises the importance of a sustainable approach to our operations across the entire chain, from raw materials through to the manufacture and the distribution to our customers.
At Easysteel it is our objective to tie sustainability in with what we generally consider to be 'sound' business practices, such as increased efficiency, minimising waste and maximising resources. Sustainable business practices are a new way to direct our organisation and are applied across every aspect of our business - from strategy to waste disposal.
Easysteel is moving towards adopting and embracing Environmentally Sustainable practices across all its operations. We undertake to educate our employees, suppliers and Executive on our Environmental Sustainability vision.


 

Environmental Sustainability Policy

Introduction:

The object of this policy is to provide clear direction for Fletcher Easysteel’s efforts to become environmentally sustainable.

Policy Statement:

Fletcher Easysteel is committed to being a good neighbour, concerned for the community and the environment. We will continually strive to improve our social and environmental performance, with the objective of ensuring that our activities contribute to the sustainable development of the communities in which we operate.

There is overwhelming evidence that the current rate of resource depletion is unsustainable and renewable resources must be utilized to ensure quality of life for future generations.

Fletcher Easysteel adopt and embrace Environmentally Sustainable practices across its operations. Fletcher Easysteel educates its employees, suppliers and executives on our Environmental Sustainability vision.

Environmental Sustainability is considered in all processes and practices within Fletcher Easysteel’s operations.

Fletcher Easysteel actively encourages Environmental Sustainability in the corporate activities of all the companies that we deal with.

Definition:

Environmental Sustainability shall involve long-term management of natural and physical resource use in a way, or at a rate, which enables the Fletcher Easysteel to provide for its long-term environmental goal of:

Reducing, and or removing, any adverse effect, on the environment and society, in which it operates.Specifically, this means that Fletcher Easysteel will aim to operate in a way that:
1. reduces our consumption of fossil fuels;
2. reduces our demand on natural resources;
3. helps maintain and restore natural processes;
4. cares for people, including future generations.
 

Implementation:

Fletcher Easysteel will assess its operations that could have an harmful or potentially harmful impacts on the environment and society.

Fletcher Easysteel will create and implement systems to mitigate and reduce these harmful impacts. Fletcher Easysteel will assess how successfully these systems have operated.

Harmful environmental impacts shall include such things as –
- High levels of waste output / Low levels of recycling
- High levels of energy consumption
- High usage levels of undesirable substances

Environmental Education:

Fletcher Easysteel will recognise its unique role as a leadership organisation and will promote environmental sustainability messages and education in its communications and through its events.
